Border for the swoon

Hi friends!
Beautiful day!
I started my border yesterday!

I made this in just a little while.
I think this will do the trick!

I pinned it on just to just an idea of what it will look like and to see if it will be long enough.

I think it will work just fine!

There is one spot on the quilt that I am going to take apart and fix.

It puckers a little and I don't want that, it is where I sewed the front first, I like the sewing the front on last , it just works better.

Borders for the swoon

Hi friends!
Beautiful day!
This thing measures 84 inches in length, so I will put a small white border on the top and bottom.
Maybe 3 inches on each end.  That will make it 90 inches!

I have been cutting out squares to do the middle of the side borders.

It will take quit a few of these to go 84 inches.  It will use up most of my fat quarters..
I plan on a 5 inch white border on the side , then after that these squares and maybe a 5 inch border on the other side of these squares.  That will make a 14 inch border on each side.  That should make it 84 inches across.
That should make a good sized queen sized quilt.  If I don't think it's wide enough I will add to my last border and make it  7o r 8 inches.

Swooning

Hi friends!
Beautiful day!
I am working on my swoon quilt today!
Putting my blocks together, this time I am joining them in the back and then joining them in the front.

Trying to add the last two blocks.  I haven't worked on it since last weekend because of working on other stuff and Dr. visits.
I am going to make my borders white with some of the fat quarters added to it.
Maybe I will get that done this weekend and can show it to you Monday.

More Swoon

Beautiful day!
I pinned both of my last two blocks and tried some thing I haven't tried before !
I sewed the backs together and then pinned the front and I think I will use this way again if I make mine by quilting each block again.
Saves you tring so hard to get them flat.
I though I would make my borders like that but I think now I will go with white and colored squares made out  of the rest of the fat quarter's.
I think it will go faster and I can make or try to make an exploding star quilt for Missy Lou .
I have only made 2 big quilts this year , well 2 and two thirds'  That's counting this one.
Got to make some thing for Sis and Sis-in-love for their birthdays.
Don't have any idea what?

Swoon quilt

Hi friends!
Beautiful day!
My last block to finish out the top of the quilt.

 

I have been playing with pieces to see how I want the border to look.  I am still undecided!
If I use the first lay out I will have to put tops on them and that should make it wide enough to fall a good 12 inches on each side.
I put the last 2 blocks together to make a sandwich yesterday and will quilt them today.
Get them added on to the other 4 blocks and then I can see whether I need a small border  for the top and bottom and see how much border I need on the sides.

Nearly a Flimsy

I have these 4 together and my last block nearly done.
You see how big is it going to be!!
I am going to my borders out of left over fat quarters in this line  so I will be queen sized for our bed.
Next I am going to make a exploding star for Missy lou!!
Just need on more fabric to get started on her's

Sixth Block

Hi friends!
Beautiful day!

I got two more blocks quilted yesterday  Hope to get them joined  and add them to the other 2 i already did
sometime today!
I am hoping this way will be easier than doing a big quilt .

This is the start of the last block  [ i hope]

These two joined together has a little over hang on a queen sized bed.
 So i am going to make a border at least on the sides, some time next week.

5th block finished

Hi friends!
Rainy day!
I finished my 5th block!
I think i am just doing one more, that will cover the top of a queen sized bed.  Then i will think about borders!!!
I love that light green and dark green!!
Still looking for the fabric for my next one, thought about blue and red but i have one of those already.
I will come back later this week with ,i hope, two more quilted and by then i hope to have chosen my next one. I am getting excited about finishing it.

1/3 of a quilt!

Hi friends!
Beautiful day!
I finished quilting that yellow and brown block then i did the blue and red and joined them together.
Now i have one third of a quilt.!!
I may put borders on the side or i may put pinwheels. The size it will be when i get all six together will be plenty long enough but will need some fall on the sides.
I will look to see if i can find any thing but maybe a solid would work!
I am leaning to pin wheels!
May not have any fabric i could use.
That's the problem when you use fat quarters.
What i have left is in the same family so if i don't make pin wheels i want have enough for the sides.
Well i will figure it out!

Started Quilting

Hi friends!
Beautiful but cold!
I am going to sandwich and quilt each block , this is the first.

Got it done last night and was ready to start this morning.

I am straight line quilting and leaving a inch or more on the edges so i can join them together. Need to do another so i can try it as see how it goes..
I may use a saching in the middles so i am leaving a inch or two of battening on each edge.
I will let you know how it goes later this week , i hope.

Start of another block

I think i am going to try quilt as you go with these blocks, wish me luck!
i see other blogger's doing it  so i am going to try.  The blocks are 29 inches and i haven't decided whether i want sashing or not. One day this week i will come back with pictures of me quilting them..
This is the 5th block, that will make 87 inches in length when i add another but only 58 inches across so i may have to do three more to make a queen sized quilt for our bed
I am really loving these colors playing off each other.
When i get them all done i will decide whether to add sashing, it may need it to make it big enough.

I made this Sunday and keep working on it until i had this

Though i was through but then took a good look and took it back down and took it apart.
If you don't like ripping out seams with "Jack the Ripper" you shouldn't be a quilter.

Now it's right and i can move on to my next block!!!

Next Block

I made my next star in dark pinks and blue pokka dots.

.It makes a pretty star. Maybe i will get to work on it some more this week!
I have a cold , i guess from miss Lola, we keep her Wednesday
 and she would have to stop sucking her bottle to breathe

Isn't she adorable?
We keep her so her parents could work on her's and Clair's bedroom. Ever time they nailed a nail or used the saw she screamed.

Finished Block

Hi friends!
Nasty day!
I finished my third block, It's is beautiful,
I think the more i do the better they look! I know they are easier to do the more i make.

Three down and three more to go!

This will be my next block, dark pink and blue dots.
I am doing these blocks out of my stash and this is all i liked with it.
I have a lot but you need something to go with the main fabric that want clash with it.
I can't wait to get started with it but not going to until Saturday.

Swoon block

Hi friends!
The weather is so much better.
I took this block that i made last week and turned it into this one.

Would you believe i still have another round of squares left to make this a finished block?
I think i am going to end up with a low volume quilt!!!
i am loving this fabric it's 'Hope Cove' by Robyn Pandolph.  I won it last year from Kristen On Meadowbrook [not to be confused with meadowbrookefarm]. I won 31 fat quarter's and a lot of rulers from her. But as i said this fabric is beautiful
  The most fabric i have ever won!!!!!!
I have been just 'petting' it up until now
It will make a beautiful 'swoon' quilt.
I have no idea what i will use with it in my next block.  When i get the last rows on i will come back and show you and by then maybe i will have picked out my next block's fabric.

Valentines

Hi friends!
The snow is melting!
I started my next block, this one i am doing in green and pink.

These are the other 2, just need 3 more and some great fabric for the border.

Look what Hubby got me for Valentines day.  He will take me out to eat Monday for a late valentines date.  Right after my Dr. apt.He is so sweet, he cooked breakfast for me this morning and washed the dishes for me last night!!!!
Maybe i will get my block finished tomorrow. should have the whole day to sew , every one will be busy pleasing their Valentine.
Most well have to work to make up for being out with the snow.

Latest block

Hi friends!
Another cloudy day!
I love this color combo.
I just had to go ahead and finish this block.

Isn't it beautiful?
The first one had so much 'work' done to it it looked funny, by work i mean jack the ripper.

This is the fabric i am going to use in my next block, green and pink. I have a yellow and brown and a red and blue.
I have wanted to do this every since i first saw a finished quilt by this pattern. It's like my Christmas quilt , i saw it and just loved it so i had to make it for us.

Start of the next block

Cloudy day!
This block is going to be red and blue! I am going to try to make them all different colors.
I just work on us a quilt on the week end if we don't have company.

Beautiful , so far.
But the other one was until i got to the outer row of blocks.  There will only be six of these because they measure 29 inches by 29 inches. I have seen several with saching and i think i will go with that and a border for the hang down on the sides and bottom..
The problem will be finding any thing that goes with all these fabrics.
But i will keep my eyes open and if i see any thing i will get it, if i can't find any thing i may use a solid color.
