Karens Quilt

Hi friends!
I got the four made for the other end! 
Sewed them together and added them on! Just two more rows and the border is all I will need but its going to be hard to do and will take a while.

A  white  strip and a burgundy one will cover the whole top of the bed.
I just got it added on the right side.

See the next step? I made those blocks a little bigger than the picture so it only took four instead of five.
A upper and lower row of geese is  after the next strips!

Hi friends!
This is a up close of the green looking fabric. See the burgundy in it? It's not a lot but it's there.

I finally got some sewing done yesterday after 4 o:clock.
Tommy was going to work in the yard but was so tired from working all day while I was gone on Monday he just couldn't make it. So we went about 3 and bought groceries.
After we got back he mowed the south forty and I sewed.

I finished the forth block and added them on the bottom. Glad this whole quilt isn't just those two inch squares.
It's takes some time to make those blocks!
Maybe by Friday I will have the top row finished, I hope!

This looks much better!
More in line with all the rest of the top.

One more !
It will take four on the bottom and four on the top before the next step.
These stop it from being a square. Very ingenious. The second one looks green but it's the same fabric that's in the main part. Just has some burgundy in it. These take a while to make but maybe by the end of the week I will have six more done and added.

Hi friends!
Made up just enough to go down this side.

Sewed them together and added that to the quilt top.

The next step was white all around.
The next is blocks across the top and bottom for length.

I made this out of 3 inch squares I had left but it's going to be to big!
So I guess this weekend I will cut some 2 inch and put one together and see how that fits.

I needed a few to do a  double row on this side so I cut some more.

when I got a few made I checked to see if I had enough for that row then sewed them on.

Got that  added!
So back to making !

Hi friends!
I spent Friday afternoon cutting and making four squares.

I was checking to see how many it took to added to the bottom and top.

I attached it to the main section.

I had enough made up to add the top to but had to cut some more before I made the side ones.

I laid a few out to see how many more it would take. It's trail and error when all you have is a picture of a quilt that my darling daughter wants.

But when I started sewing the other half of the four square it didn't take me long to run out of white.

Hi friends!
I thought I would use a shoe box for the squares!

It's double this all the way around the white that I added. that's a lot of four patches

I sewed up a small stack, going to be a while that all you see is stacks of four patches . That will be all I have to post.
Went to Walmart yesterday and besides sore hurting feet I bought some more fusible fleece.

I just about used up all I had making casserole carriers!
I need to make at least two more. Maybe more than that. After all I have granddaughters setting up house keeping.

Hi friends!
Remember this? Well I started cutting 3 inch squares for the next few rows.
Just maybe a bazillion of them. My daughter's name is Karen , her two older  brother's named her before she was born.

I am using one more fabric.

I think this one will go with it to.
I am cutting two strips at a time then cutting 4 squares each time I cut. Maybe it will go faster that way or maybe I will make that 4 strips now after all I put a new blade in my rotary cutter , it should be able to cut that many,
I will see!
Any thing to make it go faster.
Took the day off yesterday and just talked to hubby and rested and read. With the spring he is outside for days during the day and some times until 8 at night.
He mows about 5 acres here with his john deer and his tractor.
Right now his has just spend a week working on john deer on the back porch so he was close to take brakes with.
But when he mows the south forty he is gone for a few hours . I can see him some times but mostly not.
This is with my big camera that my daughter gave me on zoom as far as it will go.

Every once in a while he talks about getting rid this place when he gets to old to take care of this yard but I remember when his parents lived here the yard was much smaller.

More Casserole Carriers

Hi friends!
More Casserole carriers.

Two that I made for Sis and sister-in-law.
I need to make at least two  more so that I have one.

This is my Brother that I quilt on. I lost the bag with the book and all the feet month's ago. I had a quilting foot on it and lots of bobbins in the mat that was under her.
I was cleaning up yesterday and found this.

That walking foot now lists at 88 dollars!  I was go glad to see that!
Now if all the other things I can't find would just turn up!!!!
When we have big family dinners I put things up, but then it takes me 6 month's to find them again.
I am going to have to draw me a map with places marked when I put them , but I would lose that to.

Casseroles carriers

Hi Friends!
Sunday , Tonia and Missy were talking about the casserole carrier I made them years ago and said they needed one smaller, so naturally I got a pattern Monday off the internet to make some.
I also got a free pattern for a make-up brush roll for my Tatum and Addie.

This was the first one!

This was the second one!
Though I would make my sis and sis in law one each and most of my girls one to. Abby has a whole set to go with her casserole dish's already that she bought years ago. But I will ask her if she wants one.
These are great for  carrying a dish to a meal at work.
I need to finish these and get back to work on my daughter's birthday quilt.

Hi friends!
My daughter sent me a picture of a quilt she wanted me to make for her and she wants it in burgundy and white.
I showed you the fabric I got!

I started it yesterday!

This is not a hard one to follow.

So far so good!

Well I now have a small part of it done.
The next step is white all the way around it and then a million four patch's. Need to finish it by June the 8th !Should be able to do that .

Daughter's quilt

Hi friends!
For the next 6 weeks I will be working on my daughter a birthday quilt.
She wanted burgundy and white.

I also have this, it goes great with the solid but not with the other print.

I will wait and see if I like these together.
