Dresden Quilt

Hi friends!
Rainy day!
Started putting together the snowman Christmas quilt.

 I bought a charm pack of red solids to use for the circle in the middle

Looks pretty good doesn't it!
I am still debating about quilt as i go for this quilt.
I did it with my swoon quilt and had one pouffe spot that i never did get straighten out.
It rained most of the day yesterday and has started it today.
Makes for a good sewing day!
I didn't get much sewing over the weekend because we had a lot of company.

Missy's quilt

Hi friends!

Beautiful day!

Our Missy came after work last night to get her quilt i made for her. She said she loved it.

I sewed lots of love in it as i do with   all my quilts..

Now i just have to finish three quilts that i have started

.

I now have 9 of these made!.

Don't  think i will be able to finish another for this month.

Haven't gotten enough done on any of the three to finish in  the next few days.

Got to get busy!        At least Blogger worked today, thanks blogger team for fixing it!

Dresden quilt

Hi friends!

Cloudy day!

It took 5 minutes for blogger to load one picture just now!!!!!!

This is no 6 and made 7 and 8, just like 4 more having 12 done.

Want to ask the one that is going to get it about that snow or white fabric.  Then i may quilt as you go all the blocks.

i was going to up load the picture of all three but it wouldn't do it.

I will be so glad when blogger gets the bugs out!!!!!

Snow Man Quilt

Hi friends!

Beautiful day!

I have made 5 of these snowman Dresden plates for this quilt.

Cut out some more last night and cut my self, i either cut my self or rip my self with the seam ripper all

the time.  All the Fabric in the Dresden is snowman fabric.

I am thinking about this for the background for the Dresden's, my moda snow, makes sense doesn't it

I should have one made later this week to show you.

My next quilt , a snowman Dresden plate!!!!

I love these as you know because i made me one for Christmas last year.

I love mine with the pillow shams to match.

I made nine blocks for mine and put on a border but i think this will be 12  blocks . 

Don't have another Christmas pillow like mine , gave that fabric to a very good friend.

Wonder if she has made a pillow yet?  It takes a lot of stuffing for that big a pillow.

Finished , Missy's quilt

I have finally finished Missy's quilt.  After i made these pictures i worked on the spot on the left that looks like it is drawed in    .Worked on it again last night so now i think i have it right.  While i was binding it i noticed a big fold on the back about 5 inches from the edge.  After i fixed it i had to quilt the spots that i took out.
Now it has a label on it and is ready for Missy to pick it up

That is one big quilt, so not perfect but i love it any way  I just hope she likes it.

This is what i ended up binding it with.  It has the red and brown that the quilt has in it.  Not through with it yet because i didn't do any sewing on Father's day , spent it with my wonderful Husband.

Sat. i cut out some Dresden plates pieces for my sweet step daughter Kim, she wanted a Dresden plate snowman quilt like i made my self last year out of Christmas fabric.

well i am going to get busy so maybe i will have a finish for tomorrow.

I sewed this all the way around the quilt but couldn't stand it so now i am taking it off.

See it doesn't go with it even through i have it in the quilt.
Hoping to get it off and and   another on soon so i can finish it.

I wrestled this monster all day yesterday!

Got the binding on , now i need to trim and hand sew the binding down and wash it, maybe the sun will come out long enough to hang it and take pictures. Maybe this afternoon i will get it trimmed and work on it tonight.

Ironing this hugh quilt after i sandwiched it and added some more backing.

Love my brother machine, i keep it set up for quilting and use my Janome for piecing.

Wavy lines until i can replace my free motion sewing foot.

Got about half done, time for a snack, talk to you later.

Sandwiched!!!!

Rainy day!
I didn't think it was wide enough so i added 5 inches on each side for a border and 3 inches on the top and bottom.
I had bought a queen sized sheet to do the backing but  when i sandwiched it it just didn't quite make it all the way!
I sandwiched 80& of it and now i am looking for scraps to add to  the backing to complete it.

It's a nice big quilt!
Maybe i will have a Friday finish for this week to.
I am going to use what i can find of the fabric that is in this quilt top for the backing up one side.
I put nearly 5 yards of white in it , bought 3 yards to start and then bought another 3 yards of a white  not like the first white  because you can never find the same one.
Tried to mix it in so it would hopefully look alright.
Used one yard of brown and several yards of different colors.  One yard of cowboys witch was all i could get in a esty shop but i loved it and wanted it for her quilt because she is a cowgirl and rides in Rodeo's.
Hopefully by thw weekend i can call her and tell her to come and get it.

Flimsy!!!!

Finished the last two rows yesterday!  Think maybe a small border and then i will sandwich this and quilt it.

It's not perfect but neither am i so we will let it go as is.

After all i am getting better with each quilt i make.

I just hope Missy likes it when i am done with it.

Still growing

Hi friends!
The sun is out!!!
Last Wednesday I added a top and bottom row but Haven't had the chance to work on it since.  I usually work on it on Sat. but  we had a reunion of my mother's family yesterday so I cooked all afternoon Sat.
I was wore out when we got home yesterday but managed to sew a little on something else.

 This is as far as I have gotten with it.
Hopefully I can work on it some this afternoon.
It's getting to look very good and the pattern is showing up.
I love how it's growing!
Hope  oldest step  girl likes it to.

Getting there

Look at this real good!

See what I mean?  Son-in-law said when I was taking out stitches on Sunday[ I wouldn't  do that after all you are making them a quilt, it doesn't have to be perfect]  .
But it has to at least look like the pattern.  I worked on it yesterday most of the day and now it looks almost like it should!
My points are not perfect but I guess I can live with that.

 

 

This is where I stopped yesterday, it's beginning to look good!

Maybe I will get another day this week to work on it, at the rate it's growing it want be long before it covers our bed but I am shooting for a queen size that hangs down about 12 inches on each side.

Jack the ripper

I added the top and bottom row and made the side one and them realized the side ones before was wrong.
So I spent the afternoon taking out stitches, that's a big part of quilting spending time with 'Jack the ripper'
Maybe by the middle of the week I will have them back on right and finish that row.

Hubby cooked breakfast for me and One of my steps spent the afternoon with us.
My daughter was but  she got sick so I just got to see her Saturday

Growing slowly

I added another row all the way around on this quilt.

 

 

With this pattern you just keep adding, it took me 6 hours to get all of it cut and added.

And that was just one row and they will get so big that it will take all day to get one side done.

It just keeps growing with each row you add.

At this rate it will take a while before the beautiful pattern shows.

I put one round on the star yesterday. Going to try to work on it today!

Tommy is plowing the garden and wants to get it planted before the week end because it's suppose to rain then.

Another look at it, it's going to be a beautiful quilt.
It's just one block and you just keep making it bigger and bigger until it's queen sized.

Melissa's Quilt

I started the exploding star quilt for Melissa Dawn,

Don't know what I am doing just following a picture posted on facebook of it made of half square
triangles.    I printed off the picture but not the info of who posted it.  But I want to thank you for the help.    I remember she said she made it for her 65 year old brother.

This is as far as I have gotten on it  so far.

I think it will look o k when I get further alone.

Monday finish!

Hi friends!
Bad weather coming!
I finished my "SWOON" quilt.
It's on our bed, I used cotton battening and is light and not to heavy, just right for summer.

 

I love this quilt but the next one  will be for some else.    We have got quite a few for us already.

This is going to be  my next quilt for Melissa Dawn, I hope!

I am going to   to give it the old college try!!

These are the fabric's that I an going to use in it.
The pattern is "Exploding Star".   I couldn't find any thing but paper piece pattern for it and I don't do   that so I found this that is tri angles but it's only a picture!!
I am going to use it to make it!!!!
